79group were asked to design, supply, install & commission the electrical, lighting and fire alarm services for the 1st floor works of the new office workspace for a communications company. The space is designed to support the client’s strategic objectives and will be a platform that enhances both their own innovation measures data outage for utility companies so it was imperative that, while this project commenced earlier in the year, it continued and handed over on time during the current Covid 19 crisis.

The Brief

The space is designed to support the client’s strategic objectives and will be a platform that enhances both their own innovation measures data outage for utility companies so it was imperative that, while this project commenced earlier in the year, it continued and handed over on time during the current Covid 19 crisis.

Our Approach

To meet the brief the 79group design team designed the services to run in an efficient, economical and agile way. With a strong global focus on reducing carbon footprint and being economical wherever possible, it was important to the client and supply chain to retain existing services where possible.

Our teams designed an electrical small power setup to offer workers a flexible working space for all power related items. The infrastructure enabled the space to be adaptable rather than fixed which was a pre-requisite of the design brief.

The Solution

The programme of works spanned a 13-week period. The first element of the works was the strip out of existing services that were unable to be retained and to carry out enabling works.

Division of some services was required between the Ground and 1st floor. This was extremely important to ensure construction works on the 1st floor did not impact operation to the Ground. Once complete our team installed a new sub main distribution. To meet the client’s economic awareness driver, we were able to re-use all existing sub-main infrastructure to ground floor plant rooms. We installed all FOH and BOH lighting including emergency luminaires, PIRs and conventional switching. Where possible we ensured we retained existing fire alarms and installed new where required. Our scope of works also included wiring all data services.

We are extremely proud we were able to deliver this project ON TIME during the global Covid-19 to help our client be able to meet their essential utilities work . Strict S.O.P were in place and adhered to by all teams to ensure the safety and health of all site teams to get this project over the line.
