The Brief
Wotton House Hotel to undergo a £6 million renovation programme, which is part of a wider £50 million investment project in the De Vere country estate hotels portfolio.
The hotel is to carry out full bedroom renovations, and has seen 16 new junior suites added to its inventory, all of which are located in the mansion house, bringing the total number of bedrooms to 127.
The hotel’s restaurant will also undergo a full refurbishment, as well as the reception and public areas, which completed on 6th February, along with the hotel’s bar which has also undergone a refresh.
Our Approach
To collaborate with the principal contractor and client to interpret their renovation brief into an efficient, energy saving, high spec MEP scheme. The hotel had to remain operational at all times and disruption to guests and staff kept to an absolute minimum.
The sympathetic renovation at the 17th century Dorking estate has been designed to place the historic Wotton House mansion back at the very heart of the venue, where traditional values combine seamlessly with modern day luxury.
The transformation is to also included a full restoration of Wotton’s principal event space, The Evelyn Suite, to be returned to grandeur with a fresh new look and sophisticated detailing inspired by the building’s rich architecture.
The Solution
As with all live environments, the first process is to ensure temporary power and water supplies to the buildings. Alongside renovation of the bedrooms and new junior suites, the transformation also included a full restoration of Wotton’s principal event space, The Evelyn Suite. The investment has seen the installation of high speed outdoor Wi-Fi, Data, CCTV, Audio and a new Fire Alarm system all installed by 79 Group.
Full MEP services installed throughout the hotel included;
- electrical works,
- data, fire alarms,
- a full air conditioning package throughout,
- heating, new extract systems,
- re-plumbing of entire hot and cold water to all services,
- sanitary ware for bedrooms and public toilets.
To achieve all of the above it was imperative to build open, honest and fluid communication with the main contractor, client, onsite staff and other contractors. We all had the same aim, to deliver the ambitious renovation plans as smoothly as possible.
The 79group have now worked with us to consistently deliver full MEP installation on six projects for our client PH Hotels. The scope has covered leisure facilities, restaurants, meeting rooms and over 200 bedrooms, including luxury suites. Working with a proactive and reactive company who offer the combined package of work helps us ensure that each project progresses smoothly, is fully coordinated & delivered on time. Always ensuring the highest standards are achieved. Most recent project we have worked on together covered full MEP services to 45 bedrooms, including luxury suites, a training centre and Executive Centre. They rose to the challenge of designing and supplying bespoke lighting for the bar area. The 79group are consistent in their delivery and professional approach.
