The Brief
Food truck favourite The Cheese Bar has now opened its first-ever permanent site after taking just six weeks to get the venue up and running. The Cheese Bar’s founder to define his brief which was that we needed to create a refined, unfussy identity that would allow quality of hand-selected cheeses to take centre stage.
Our Approach
We worked closely with the main contractor, architect and founder to interpret the brief. The architect ensured every design was about allowing the produce to shine – from the large fridge wall showcasing produce to the huge, backlit menu board. And 79 Group are all about making things shine! We were awarded the full electrical installation contract but due to our own lighting manufacture division, we were also approached to design and manufacture a bespoke light fitting in keeping with the contemporary industrial feel of the design.
The Solution
To meet the client's brief of an industrial, effective yet efficient energy saving light fitting, we designed and manufactured a bespoke fitting, the L8. We manufactured a bespoke extrusion made up with the diffuser and installed LED strips and a driver all within a tight 3 week programme. The Cheese Bar’s aesthetics really work opting for a more contemporary London look, with exposed brickwork, white-washed walls. The industrial looking L8 compliments this design.
79 Group also carried out full electrical, mechanical and public health installation for this concept restaurant. The project involved the installation of built-in fridges, a kitchen and bar area.
The Cheese Bar has won the Jewson Lifestyle Award at this year’s National Association of Shopfitters (NAS) Design Partnership Awards.
The Cheese Bar was singled out for its unique design, located within a Grade II-listed former stable block.
The restaurant was completed in three weeks and not the original 6 week programme and launched to great public acclaim in March 2017.
